One person who was interviewed was a man named George Dodge, who held the title of "Yankee Odd Job Man". The interview took place on January 24, 1939 in Worthington, Massachusetts, and it was conducted by Rosalie Smith. His wife had died three years ago, and he had the company of his son, John, and his dog, Mickie. He worked as a mason and a carpenter. Mr. Dodge also said how the depression that occurred just after the American Civil War, in 1876, was much worse than the one that happened in the 1900s. Overall, he said how much had changed in the past 30 or so years. Also interviewed was Aurther R. Goodlett, of negro decent, discussing the subject of negro history in his interview with Fred D. Dixon. Mr. Goodlet, 49 years of age, discusses this in the comfort of his own living room in his elegantly furnished, modernized home on 2815 Binney Street. He and his wife, Fannie, live in the negro district of Omaha, Nebraska. At the present date, November 16, 1938, he is a foreman of sanitation at the Cudahy packing company in Omaha, and has held this position for the past ten years. Mr. Goodlett is also extremely interested in religious activities, and is a member of the St. John A.M.E. church. He is very active in Sunday School work and has taught a class in this department for many years. Born in 1889, the seventh child of ten, Aurther Goodlett left school in the sixth grade to make a living and has not stopped working since. To this day he feels incredibly accomplished to own a nice home, have a very good job, and a well educated his son. The last person interviewed was a 50 year old man named Jacob Stein. Jacob is a White man who is also Jewish. He is a folklore. He was interviewed on December 5,1938 by B.Hathaway at Union Square. During the depression Jacob lived on the streets because during the United States Primary elections a man asked him to hold some ballots and being a nice person he did. Then a police man arrested him because the ballots were marked. Later, he was brought to court and the case was never completed. This incident caused him to lose his job with WPA (Works Progress Administraion) and because he did not have a job and new job was hard to come by during this time period he had no home and had to live on the streets.
